Our Story
A Tempest™ company, Destination Signals™ is a community activation program designed to leverage the power of your Tempest website to create unique value and opportunity for local businesses to enhance their presence on the website.
Our goal is to help destination websites reach their fullest potential as shared community assets.
Websites managed by DMOs offer tremendous value in providing travelers around the world with the most trusted and authoritative information written by destination experts, as well as the opportunity for local businesses to promote themselves to a hyper-targeted audience through a local organization who cares, as opposed to a large corporation.
Each year, destination websites help millions upon millions of travelers research, plan, and be inspired for their next trip. Unfortunately, despite these incredible levels of visitation, we noticed that local hotels, restaurants, attractions, and other hospitality businesses were not taking full advantage of this community resource.
Having already successfully built an industry-leading agency to help DMOs invest in their digital assets by designing, developing, and growing award-winning destination websites, we realized the next step was to introduce a solution that would help the local community unlock the value of the destination website and help destination organizations connect with and increase engagement with their stakeholders.
Destination Signals™ offers a new approach to antiquated advertising models. Our efforts are focused on building rich, personal connections within the community, promoting the value of a destination organization, and helping local businesses enrich their marketing plans in ways that take advantage of the most highly targeted advertising solution available in their market that yields the highest return on investment: a DMO website.

Location: Chandler, Arizona
Travel & Tourism Experience: Over 17 years, beginning in the student travel business at the age of 16. During college, Derek worked with the Phoenix Sports Commission, and then started working with DMOs in 2011.
Favorite Vacation Destination: Park City, Utah
Community Engagement Specialist
Location: Montrose, Colorado
Travel & Tourism Experience: Over 10 years, including 8 years on the hospitality side of the tourism industry, 10 months with the City of Montrose, Tourism and Business Division, and 2 years with Tempest™ and Destination Signals™.
Favorite Vacation Destination: Maya Riviera, Mexico
Community Engagement Specialist
Location: Louisville, KY
Travel & Tourism Experience: Over 9 years, beginning as a college intern for Louisville Tourism and later becoming Digital Marketing Manager for the organization and eventually joining Destination Signals™.
Favorite Vacation Destination: Rosemary Beach, Florida
Ad Operations Manager
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Travel & Tourism Experience: Over 13 years, beginning as a Destination Specialist for an international tour operator in 2010, ultimately moving to the product side developing tour itineraries prior to joining Destination Signals™ in 2021.
Favorite Vacation Destination: Sea Isle City, New Jersey
Ad Operations Analyst
Location: New London, New Hampshire
Travel & Tourism Experience: Over 7 years, beginning with a role in the lodging industry in Durango, Colorado. Shannon then transitioned into a destination marketing role for the City of Montrose, Colorado, before joining Destination Signals™ in 2022.
